This is an easy trip to take and highly recommended for people who are interested in the ancient Roman civilization. The Itálica ruins are situated in Santiponce, 7 km from Seville.

The ruins go back to 206 BC and was first used as emergency hospital camp grounds. After some time, and thanks to the Emperor Adriano, it gained importance and was converted into a city and the urban layout, big houses, beautiful mosaics and amphitheatre are still conserved.

The buses going to Itálica leave from Plaza de Armas every half hour. On Saturdays in the afternoon, and on Sundays, buses leave every hour.

Carmona is a good option for a day trip. Buses leave from the Prado station about once and hour. The places of special interest are in the upper part of the city, the old part of town:

- Parador: Built by the Arabs, it is now a luxury hotel with beautiful traditional patios. The views are worth the visit.

Osuna

For historical reasons, the villages in the Andalusian plains are usually big and separated by large extensions of culturable land (estates). A good example of this is Osuna, a typical Andalusian village. It is found 95 kms from Seville and is worth the visit, not only for its monuments, but also for its streets filled with white houses and its traditional environment. The buses leave from the Prado bus station. Recommended visits:

- Colegiata: Schedule: 10h - 13:30h and 15:30h-18:30h closed on Mondays.
